Job summary

Colonial Freight Lines is seeking an Operations Supervisor to lead our transport and logistics team in Perth. You will drive rosters, oversee distribution, and ensure safe, efficient vehicle movements while maintaining strong communication with drivers and customers.

The ideal candidate brings transport administration experience, strong planning skills, and a collaborative mindset. A relevant qualification is highly regarded and forklift or truck licences are beneficial.

Qualifications

• Experience in transport administration or logistics is highly regarded.
• Excellent time management, planning, and organisational skills are essential.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Proficiency with Outlook, MS Word and MS Excel is required.
• Certificate or Degree in Supply Chain Management (or equivalent) is highly regarded.
• Forklift or Truck licence are advantageous.
• Previous experience in a similar role is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Logistics to provide support.
• Prepare and manage weekly rosters.
• Oversee the local distribution team.
• Verify driver trip and fatigue documentation.
• Monitor fatigue and records for compliance.
• Ensure compliance across the logistics team.
• Manage vehicle movements and equipment utilisation.
• Maintain communication with drivers and team members.
• Update the Job Management System as needed.
• Liaise with customers and build rapport.

Operations Supervisor (Transport & Logistics)

This role provides the backbone to a successful team and requires a person with drive and ambition to get things done.

Your strong communication, knowledge and leadership skills will be rewarded in this role and we are looking for the right person who can join our team.

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Working closely with the Logistics team to provide support


• Preparing and managing weekly Rosters


• Overseeing the local distribution team


• Checking driver trip and fatigue sheets


• Monitoring fatigue and records


• Ensuring compliance across the logistics team


• Managing vehicle movements and utilisation of equipment


• Communicating with drivers and team members


• Checking and updating our Job Management System


• Liaising and building rapport with customers


• Assisting with Incident Reporting and Investigation


• Assisting with HACCP and HVA Audits


• Spreadsheet reporting and data analysis


• Rotation of assisting with after-hours phone calls

To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate:

• Prior transport administration experience (highly regarded)


• Excellent time management skills, planning and organisational skills


• Strong written and verbal communication


• Strong skills in using applications such as Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel


• Certificate, Degree in Supply Chain Management or equivalent (highly regarded)


• Forklift and/or Truck licence (highly regarded but not essential)


• Experience in a similar role.
