Job summary

AFL is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to run our grounds and landscape maintenance operation across Sydney. You will manage team leaders and crews, keep work on program and budget, and be the main point of contact for our clients.

This is an on-site senior role, with regular site visits and leadership responsibilities. You'll bring proven operations or contract management experience in landscape or facilities, strong client management, and a solid WHS background.

Qualifications

• Proven operations or contract management experience in landscape, grounds, facilities or a related field.
• Track record leading multiple crews or teams across several sites.
• Strong client and stakeholder management skills, with WHS leadership.

Responsibilities

• Manage delivery of grounds and landscape maintenance contracts across Sydney.
• Lead and support team leaders and crews including resourcing, scheduling and daily direction.
• Own client relationships with regular contact, site walks and reporting.
• Manage costs and margins, and quote additional works and variations.
• Drive WHS across every site with SWMS, pre-starts, audits and incident management.
• Oversee quality to meet client expectations across the portfolio.
• Manage plant, fleet and equipment availability, maintenance and cost.
• Recruit, mentor and develop team leaders and crews.

What you'll be doing

• Managing delivery of grounds and landscape maintenance contracts across Sydney
• Leading and supporting team leaders and crews, including resourcing, scheduling and day-to-day direction
• Owning client relationships - regular contact, site walks, reporting, etc
• Managing costs and margins, and quoting additional works and variations
• Driving WHS across every site - SWMS, pre-starts, audits, incident management and a genuine safety culture
• Overseeing quality across the portfolio so works meet client expectations
• Managing plant, fleet and equipment - availability, maintenance and cost
• Recruiting, mentoring and developing team leaders and crew

What you'll bring

• Proven operations or contract management experience in landscape, grounds, facilities or a related field
• A track record leading multiple crews or teams across several sites
• Strong client and stakeholder management skills
• Solid WHS knowledge and the ability to lead safety from the front
• A current driver's licence (essential)
• A trade qualification or Certificate III in Horticulture - an advantage
• Ability to pass site access / security screening for government and defence sites where required
