Job summary

Sherrin Rentals is seeking a mechanically experienced Operations Manager to lead the Rockhampton branch. This hands-on role involves guiding a small team and coordinating workshop and rental operations to keep activity running smoothly.

You will oversee seven staff, manage maintenance priorities, schedule dry hire rentals and ensure equipment is serviced and ready for hire, while maintaining safety and strong customer communication.

Qualifications

• Mechanical knowledge of heavy equipment (essential).
• Experience in workshop and rental operations.
• Practical leader who can guide and support a small team.
• Strong attention to detail and a focus on safety.
• Confident communicator with good admin and system skills.
• Able to be on site Monday to Friday, 7:00am – 5:00pm.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily workshop operations and set maintenance priorities.
• Coordinate dry hire rentals, fleet availability and job scheduling.
• Ensure all equipment is serviced, safe and ready for hire.
• Direct yard and delivery activity, including machine staging and handovers.
• Be the branch’s main point of contact for customers by phone.
• Lead the team day to day — work allocation, performance and safety conversations.
• Maintain branch WHS standards and ensure company policies and procedures are followed.

Heavy Equipment | Team Leadership | Rental Coordination

We're looking for a mechanically experienced Operations Manager to lead our Rockhampton branch. This is a hands-on role for someone who understands heavy equipment, enjoys leading a small team, and can keep workshop activity and rental operations running smoothly.

You’ll lead a team of six — two workshop mechanics, a field service mechanic, a yard person, a driver and an admin assistant — reporting to the Regional Queensland Manager based in Townsville.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily workshop operations and set maintenance priorities
• Coordinate dry hire rentals, fleet availability and job scheduling
• Ensure all equipment is serviced, safe and ready for hire
• Direct yard and delivery activity, including machine staging and handovers
• Be the branch’s main point of contact for customers by phone
• Lead the team day to day — work allocation, performance and safety conversations
• Maintain branch WHS standards and ensure company policies and procedures are followed
