Job summary

Metcash is seeking an experienced Operations/Compliance Coordinator to lead fleet operations, health and safety, and site compliance across our operations. This standalone role offers autonomy and accountability, coordinating maintenance, registrations, audits, and contractor engagement on the floor.

The ideal candidate will drive safety, ensure regulatory compliance, and contribute to continuous improvement while building strong internal and external relationships.

Qualifications

• Experience in health and safety practices and legislation.
• Proven ability to manage fleets, inspections and maintenance scheduling.
• Strong compliance and audit process knowledge.

Responsibilities

About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Operations/ Compliance Coordinator to lead a critical function within our business. This is a standalone role with significant autonomy and responsibility, overseeing fleet operations, health & safety, compliance, maintenance coordination, and site operational activities.This position is ideal for a proven operational leader who enjoys being visible on the floor, leading by example, driving accountability, and ensuring safety and compliance standards are maintained at all times.

In this Role

• Lead and promote a strong health and safety culture across the site.
• Ensure all vehicle registrations, inspections, and compliance requirements are maintained.
• Manage vehicle fleet and coordinate preventative and reactive maintenance activities.
• Oversee contractor engagement and site maintenance requirements.
• Conduct and enforce pre-start checks and safety procedures.
• Lead audits, compliance activities, and corrective action programs.
• Monitor operational performance and identify continuous improvement opportunities.
• Delegate tasks effectively while maintaining accountability across the operation.
• Maintain accurate records and complete administrative requirements associated with fleet and site operations.
• Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

What are we looking for?

• Previous experience in an Operations, Operations Coordinator Health and Safety, or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of health & safety legislation, compliance, and audit processes.
• Experience managing fleets, maintenance schedules, and contractors.
• Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.
• Current and valid Driver's Licence.
• Safety-focused and process-driven.
• Ability to prioritise competing demands and deliver outcomes.
