Job summary

Sydney Children's Hospitals Network in Westmead is seeking an Ops Assist - Others on a temporary full-time basis. The role supports the perioperative team, assisting with patient care and moving patients, ensuring timely and safe flow through the operating theatre.

You will help keep the Operating Suite, Recovery ward, Middleton, and CSSD clean, and assist nurses, surgeons and anaesthetists as directed. The position requires physical work, teamwork, and the ability to work a rotating roster

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal.
• Ability to relate well and communicate respectfully to staff and public.
• Demonstrated portering and cleaning experience in a hospital setting.
• Ability to perform physical tasks such as moving waste bins, patient beds and trolleys.
• Knowledge of infection control standards; willingness to clean rooms/areas with potential infections.
• Ability to prioritise and multitask; work shifts on a rotating roster including weekends and public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Work within a team environment to support care and movement of patients in Perioperative services.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness in Operating Suite, Recovery ward, Middleton and CSSD.

What You'll Be Doing

• Work within a team environment to maintain the highest standard of support necessary to facilitate the care and movement of patients within the Perioperative services in a reliable, timely and effective manner.
• To ensure a high standard of cleanliness is maintained in all areas of the Operating Suite, Recovery ward, Middleton and CSSD.
• To assist within the Operating Rooms with patient care and positioning as directed by Registered Nurse, Surgeon or Anaesthetist.

• Ability and willingness to work shifts, on a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays.
