Job summary

Sydney Children's Hospitals Network is seeking an Environmental Services Assistant at Westmead to support nursing staff with non-clinical patient care, lifting and transport tasks. Job Description

Employment Type: Various Temporary and Permanent Opportunities. Position Classification: Hospital Assist Gde 2. Remuneration: 59919.26 - 59919.26 full time equivalent base salary range (excludes super, leave loading and salary packaging). Hours Per Week: up to 38. Requisition ID: REQ632555. Location: Westmead. This position is due to transition to HealthShare NSW by end of year which means that applicants will become an employee of HealthShare NSW. HealthShare NSW is part of NSW Health and provides Sydney Children's Network and Local Health Districts with state-wide services such as finance, payroll, procurement, food, support services (cleaning and waste), linen, and non-emergency patient transport. All conditions of employment remain the same and are in accordance with the relevant State Award.

What You'll Be Doing

The Environmental Services Assistant position will provide support to the nursing team in non-clinical care of the patient regarding patient lifting and transportation. They will be an active team member and support emergency response teams, collection and delivery of specimens, equipment, consumables, restocking of supplies and consumables.

The position will also be required to undertake cleaning and waste duties as assigned, may including general cleaning, terminal cleaning of internal areas and external areas to ensure a high level of cleanliness is provided and maintained in all areas of the hospital grounds to minimise health care associated infections.

About You

• Displays competency in the reading and writing of English to enable required duties to be performed safely and to acceptable levels.
• Has ability to push, or pull mobile waste bins, patient beds and trolleys frequently.
• Demonstrate an understanding and knowledge of workplace health and safety issues, including infection control and has the ability to work on a variable roster 24/7 if required.
