Job summary

Whitehaven Coal is seeking an Operational Technology and Communications Technician for Maules Creek. You will maintain a range of OT systems across mine infrastructure and the mobile fleet, delivering high‑quality fault‑finding and rapid problem resolution.

The role includes telecoms, CCTV, mesh networks, two‑way radios, fleet management, and IT/OT monitoring. The ideal candidate holds a trade qualification in Electronics/Telecommunications or equivalent, with strong time management and teamwork

• Trade qualification in Electronics and Telecommunications or equivalent.
• Strong time management, troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently and in a small team.

Responsibilities

• Deliver solutions across site telecommunications including mesh, CCTV and industrial networks.
• Support two-way radio systems and radio/Wi‑Fi point‑to‑point links.
• Manage fleet systems and oversee IT/OT network monitoring and security.
• Demonstrate safe work practices and actively manage risk.

About the Role

Whitehaven Coal are seeking experienced Technicians to join our dedicated team at Maules Creek mine providing support and maintenance on a large variety of Operational Technology systems across the mine infrastructure and mobile fleet. You will utilise your strong fault finding and problem-solving skills in a challenging and fast paced environment which requires minimal response times.

What You’ll Do

• Working across a range of systems and technologies, you will deliver high quality solutions for:
• Site telecommunications including mesh, CCTV and industrial networks
• Two-way radio systems and radio/Wi-Fi point to point links
• Fleet management systems
• IT and OT systems including network monitoring and security systems
• Demonstrate visible safe work practices, managing risk and acting as safety role model every day

What You’ll Bring

• Trade qualification in either Electronics and Telecommunications, Auto Electrical or Electrotechnology (or other relevant tertiary certification)
• Strong time management, troubleshooting & problem-solving abilities
• The ability to work independently and as part of a small team
