Job summary

Sydney Local Health District is seeking an Operating Theatre Assistant at Canterbury Hospital to support the Perioperative Department. The role involves porterage, theatre linen, cleaning duties and intraoperative tasks such as transferring patients onto the operating table and positioning them for procedures.

Permanent full-time (38 hours per week) or permanent part-time (minimum 20 hours per week) positions, with rosters including afternoon and evening shifts, and night duty.

• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in intraoperative theatre duties or willingness to learn.
• Ability to commit to a roster providing afternoon and evening cover 7 days a week, including night shift.

About the Role

Canterbury Hospital is committed to delivering high-quality, patient- and family- centred healthcare to the local community. Since opening in 1929, the hospital has continued to evolve to meet the changing needs of the community through innovative models of care.

To provide support services to the activities in the Perioperative Department by the performance of any or all of the tasks assigned to this position and contributing to the achievement of safe patient outcomes. Engaged in the provision of porterage, theatre linen supplies, cleaning services. Intraoperative theatre duties including transfers of patients onto the operating table and positioning of patients

• Good written and verbal communication skills
