Job summary

Ivory Group is assisting a Local Sydney Council by recruiting an Open Space & Recreational Planner for a 6-month contract. The role involves front-end and back-end planning for open space and recreation, liaising with internal teams and community stakeholders to ensure lawful, sustainable management of community land.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in urban planning, strong written and verbal communication, and knowledge of relevant local government legislation.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of Urban Planning experience.
• Experience in local government environment preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Local Government Act 1993 & Crown Lands Management Act 2016.

ABOUT THE COMPANY

Our client is a Local Sydney Council that is looking for a temporary 6-Month contract Open Space & Recreational Planner that can hit the ground running for a large-scale project . This is a fantastic opportunity for someone that is looking for a consistent pipeline of unique projects in line with their future initiatives.

ABOUT THE ROLE

You will be performing both front-end and back-end planning, designing and implementation processes, related to both open space and recreation. Reporting into the Open Space & Recreation Planning Team Leader, you will also be working with internal teams and external stakeholders, including key community members and partners to manage and preserve community land in a lawful and sustainable manner.

DUTIES

• Lead the development, review and implementation of Plans of Management in line with legislative requirements
• Set about research to analyse and strategically plan for open space & recreation projects
• Consult and engage in community activities
• Report progress & projections in detail to Manager Infrastructure & Planning
• Prepare site specific plans & grant applications as required

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• 3+ years of Urban Planning experience
• Previous Council experience is preferred but not essential
• Proven track record of managing projects in a timely and efficient manner
• Strong knowledge of Local Government Act 1993 & Crown Lands Management Act 2016
• Strong research, written & verbal communication, & problem-solving skills

REMUNERATIONS & BENEFITS

• $70 - $80 p/h + super
• 6 Month Contract with potential for permanent full-time contract
