Job summary

Camden Council is seeking an experienced Senior Strategic Planner to lead precinct planning in growth areas and shape strategic land use policy that supports sustainable urban and rural growth across Camden. You will deliver actions from the Local Strategic Planning Statement and help develop planning instruments for the Camden LGA.

Reporting to the Team Leader Strategic Planning, you will collaborate across a multidisciplinary team and manage complex projects, including external consultants, to

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Town Planning or related discipline, or extensive relevant experience.
• Understanding of new urban release area planning and associated principles.
• Ability to manage complex projects, including consultants, to meet deadlines.
• High level communication, interpersonal, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
• Strategic, holistic and creative thinking in autonomous or team settings.
• Knowledge/experience with NSW environmental planning and assessment acts and regulations.
• Commitment to quality customer service and EEO/WHS/ethical practice.
• Experience in community consultation and ongoing professional development.

As Camden Councilcontinues to experience rapid growth, we are seeking an experienced SeniorStrategic Planner to join our dynamic and high-performing Strategic Planning Branch.

Reporting to the TeamLeader Strategic Planning and working within a collaborative team, the rolepresents opportunities to lead precinct planning in the Camden LGA's growthareas and drive the development of strategic land use policy that supportssustainable urban and rural growth across Camden. Drawing on expertise in urbanrelease area planning, planning instruments and strategic planning, theposition plays a key role in shaping Camden's future growth and development.

This role will see youdelivering policy actions from Camden's Local Strategic Planning Statement, aswell as reviewing and developing strategies and planning instruments for theCamden LGA and its growth precincts. • Tertiaryqualifications in Town Planning, or related discipline and/ or extensive job-related experience
• Demonstrated understanding of new urban release area planning andassociated principles
• Abilityto manage complex projects, including the management of consultants, to achieve goals and meet deadlines in a consultative manner
• Demonstratedhigh level communication, interpersonal, negotiation and problem-solvingskills
• Demonstratedability to think strategically, holistically and creatively when workingautonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver projects
• Asound working knowledge of, and/or experience in, the implementation ofthe Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, the EnvironmentalPlanning and Assessment Regulation 2000 and the NSW Local Government Act1993
• Strongfocus on and commitment to quality customer service
• Demonstratedability to apply EEO, WHS and ethical practice principles and to act withprobity at all times
• Demonstratedskills and experience in the formulation and implementation of communityconsultation programs
