Job summary

Complete Staff Solutions is seeking an Open Space Project Manager to join a local government team and lead key open space planning and community land management projects.

The role requires experience across open space, parks, recreation or local government environments, with the ability to manage projects from planning through to implementation. Immediate start and 35 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Experience in open space planning, parks, recreation or community land management.
• Proven ability to develop, review or implement Plans of Management (PoMs).
• Strong knowledge of NSW Local Government Act 1993 and Crown Land Management Act 2016.

This is an opportunity for a skilled project professional with experience across open space, parks, recreation, community land or local government environments, who can confidently manage projects from planning through to implementation.

About the Role

Reporting to the Open Space & Recreation Planning Team Leader, you will lead the development, review and implementation of Plans of Management (PoMs) and contribute to broader open space and recreation initiatives.

You will work closely with internal Council teams, community stakeholders, consultants and external partners to ensure community land is managed effectively, sustainably and in accordance with legislative requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development, review and implementation of generic and site-specific Plans of Management.
• Manage open space and recreation projects across scope, time, cost, quality, risk, procurement and stakeholder engagement.
• Provide specialist advice on community land, open space and recreation matters.
• Lead community consultation and stakeholder engagement activities.
• Undertake research, analysis and strategic planning to support open space outcomes.
• Prepare high-quality Council reports, policies, strategies and planning documentation.
• Work with GIS and other internal teams to support accurate open space data and planning.
• Provide strategic advice to senior staff on complex and sensitive open space matters.
• Support the implementation, monitoring and review of open space and recreation strategies.

About You

You will be an experienced open space, parks, recreation or project management professional with a strong understanding of working within a local government environment.

You will ideally have:

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture, Environmental/Land Management or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience in open space planning, parks, recreation or community land management.
• Proven experience developing, reviewing or implementing Plans of Management.
• Strong knowledge of the NSW Local Government Act 1993 and Crown Land Management Act 2016.
• Demonstrated project management experience, including procurement, risk, budgets, timelines and stakeholder management.
• Experience leading community consultation and engagement.
• Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to prepare reports, policies, strategies and presentations.
• Experience working within Local or State Government will be highly regarded.
• IAP2 accreditation will be considered advantageous.
