Job summary

Techforce JobAdder is seeking an Open Cut Examiner (OCE) to join the Byerwen Mine team in Queensland. You will provide frontline safety oversight, conduct statutory inspections and lead hazard identification across open-cut coal operations.

This FIFO/DIDO role requires current Queensland OCE qualification, Coal Board Medical, Standard 11, and a proven track record in open-cut coal mining. You will work with production crews and site leadership to ensure compliance and safe, efficient operations.

Qualifications

• Lead and communicate with operational crews to ensure safety and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Identifying, assessing and controlling hazards across open-cut operations
• Ensuring mining activities comply with site procedures, legislation and statutory requirements
• Providing clear direction and leadership to operational crews
• Monitoring changing ground, weather and operational conditions
• Completing accurate statutory reports, inspections and shift documentation
• Supporting incident investigations and implementation of corrective actions
• Working closely with production supervisors, operators and site leadership
• Promoting a strong safety culture while supporting productive mining operations

FIFO/DIDO | Byerwen Mine, QLD | Mining Operations

We are seeking an experienced Open Cut Examiner (OCE) to join a well-established mining operation at Byerwen Mine, located in Queensland's Bowen Basin.

This is an opportunity for an experienced OCE to play a key role in maintaining safe and efficient open-cut operations. Working closely with production crews and site leadership, you will provide strong frontline safety oversight, ensure compliance with statutory requirements and support the delivery of operational targets.

The Role

As an Open Cut Examiner, you will be responsible for the safe execution of mining activities within your designated area. Your responsibilities will include:

• Conducting statutory inspections of active mining areas, haul roads, dumps and associated work areas
• Identifying, assessing and controlling hazards across open-cut operations
• Ensuring mining activities comply with site procedures, legislation and statutory requirements
• Providing clear direction and leadership to operational crews

About You

To be successful, you will ideally have:

• Current Queensland Open Cut Examiner (OCE) qualification
• Current Queensland Coal Board Medical
• Standard 11
• Demonstrated experience within open-cut coal mining operations
• Strong knowledge of Queensland coal mining legislation and statutory obligations
• Experience supervising and coordinating operational mining activities
• Strong hazard identification and risk management capability
• Confident communication and leadership skills
• High attention to detail and a strong commitment to safety
• Current Australian driver's licence
