Job summary

E73 in Central Creek, QLD is seeking a Mining Engineer or Senior Mining Engineer for an established open-cut coal operation in the Bowen Basin. The role focuses on truck-and-shovel planning and close collaboration with operations to deliver practical, safe production plans.

You will develop short-term mine plans, design pits, dumps, haul roads and rehabilitation, monitor performance, and provide technical guidance to the team.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering.
• Open-cut coal operation experience.
• Strong truck-and-shovel planning experience.
• Competency with mine-planning software.
• Good communication and stakeholder-management skills.
• Leadership or mentoring experience desired for Senior level.

Job Description

An opportunity is available for a Mining Engineer or Senior Mining Engineer to join an established open-cut coal operation in the Bowen Basin.

The position will focus heavily on truck-and-shovel planning, working closely with operations to develop practical and achievable plans that support safe and efficient production.

Key responsibilities:

• Develop short-term mine plans and schedules for truck-and-shovel operations
• Produce pit, dump, haul-road and rehabilitation designs
• Monitor performance against plan and respond to operational changes
• Work closely with Production, Drill & Blast, Geology and Survey
• Identify opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency and compliance to plan
• Provide technical guidance and support to the broader team

About you:

• Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering
• Previous experience within an open-cut coal operation
• Strong truck-and-shovel planning experience
• Competency with relevant mine-planning software
• Practical mindset and the ability to work closely with onsite operations
• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills
• Leadership or mentoring experience will be highly regarded for the Senior-level position
