Job summary

Downer Energy & Utilities is seeking an experienced Zero Harm Advisor to support Barrow Island operations. You will provide day-to-day safety guidance to site management and workers, promote a proactive safety culture, conduct inspections and risk assessments, and assist with WHS compliance and incident investigations.

Reporting to the Superintendent or Project Manager, you will play a key role in implementing health, safety and environment management systems and delivering practical onsite

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety or equivalent qualification.
• Diploma in Work Health and Safety highly regarded.
• Demonstrated experience in a safety advisory capacity with extensive industry experience.
• Strong knowledge of WHS legislation and risk management principles.
• Ability to influence and engage stakeholders across all levels of an organisation.
• Practical and solutions focused approach to safety.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong attention to detail with accurate reporting capabilities.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Valid construction related certifications and safety training.

Responsibilities

• Provide day to day safety advice and support to site management, supervisors and employees.
• Promote a strong safety culture through coaching, mentoring and proactive engagement.
• Conduct site inspections, audits and safety observations to identify hazards and risks.
• Assist with the development and review of Safe Work Method Statements, Job Hazard Analyses and risk assessments.
• Support compliance with WHS legislation, Australian Standards and client requirements.
• Participate in incident investigations, root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
• Facilitate toolbox talks, pre start meetings and safety training sessions.
• Monitor compliance with permits, PPE requirements and safety procedures.
• Maintain accurate HSE records, reporting and statistics.
• Support emergency preparedness and response activities.
• Liaise with clients, subcontractors and regulatory bodies where required.
