Job summary

Downer is seeking a Zero Harm Advisor to support safe delivery of critical infrastructure projects across Australia. The role is predominantly field-based, with a strong emphasis on coaching teams, identifying improvement opportunities and ensuring compliance with Downer and client requirements.

You will lead and participate in risk assessments, incident investigations (ICAM where required) and the development of risk controls, SWMS, and management plans, while reporting on safety performance

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety or equivalent recognised qualification.
• Experience in a health and safety advisory or operational safety role within infrastructure, utilities, telecommunications, construction, maintenance or industrial environments.
• Strong understanding of health, safety and environmental management systems and their practical application.
• Current Australian work rights and willingness to travel as required.

Responsibilities

• Provide practical Zero Harm and environmental advice to project managers, engineers, supervisors and delivery partners.
• Maintain a strong field presence, engaging with frontline teams to support safe work practices.
• Coach and influence personnel to understand risks and implement effective controls.
• Support the application of legislation, Downer standards and client requirements.
• Conduct field observations, inspections and audits, manage corrective actions and close-outs.
• Lead or support investigations, including ICAM, and assist with injury management processes.
• Assist in developing and reviewing Zero Harm Management Plans, risk registers and SWMS.
• Facilitate workforce onboarding, toolbox talks and learning activities.
