Job summary

Charterhouse is seeking an experienced Onsite Support Engineer to sustain critical data centre operations in Australian federal environments. You will perform hands-on troubleshooting across laptops, servers and network gear, coordinating with engineering teams and maintaining documentation.

The role prioritises reliability, customer service and meticulous incident management. NV1 clearance is mandatory and you will engage ITSM processes, patching activities, and routine on-site maintenance in

Qualifications

• Proven onsite IT support or data centre operations experience.
• Strong networking, server, storage and cabling knowledge.
• Experience with Microsoft 365, AD and virtual machines.
• Hands-on troubleshooting across hardware, software and infra.
• Familiar with ITSM, incident management and change control.
• Excellent communication and proactive, hands-on approach.
• Current NV1 security clearance is mandatory.

Responsibilities

Job description

I'm working closely with a leading global IT consultancy to recruit an experienced Onsite Support Engineer to support critical data centre operations and Federal enterprise IT environments. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on technical work, troubleshooting infrastructure issues and working alongside network and engineering teams. You'll be joining an established technical environment where reliability, attention to detail and strong customer service are essential.

• Current NV1 security clearance is mandatory.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on IT support across data centre and office environments.
• Troubleshoot laptops, desktops, applications, peripherals and connectivity issues.
• Support network engineers with switch checks, cable tracing, patching and troubleshooting.
• Conduct infrastructure health checks across servers, storage, racks and network equipment.
• Assist remote engineering teams with onsite technical activities.
• Support approved patching, firmware updates and routine infrastructure maintenance.
• Manage incidents, service requests and escalations through ITSM platforms.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation, asset records and support procedures.

Skills & Experience

• Proven experience in onsite IT support, infrastructure support or data centre operations.
• Good understanding of networking, switches, servers, storage and cabling.
• Experience with Microsoft 365, Active Directory, virtual machines and device management.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, software and infrastructure.
• Familiarity with ITSM tools, incident management and change control processes.
• Excellent communication skills and a proactive, hands-on approach.
• Current NV1 security clearance is mandatory.
