Job summary

Wabtec Dampier in Western Australia is seeking a locomotive technical advisor to support RTIO maintenance staff across the fleet. You will troubleshoot, provide field modification oversight, and deliver engineering support on site, with a 7 days on/7 days off FIFO or residential arrangement.

You will report to the Technical Team Manager and collaborate with global teams to train customers, monitor performance, and drive improvements in reliability and uptime while maintaining safety standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in rail industry.
• Experience maintaining and troubleshooting EVO & FDL locomotives.
• Ability to manage several projects simultaneously in a dynamic environment.
• Strong customer service mindset and communication skills.
• Own technical decisions on site regarding product performance.

Responsibilities

• Respond to RTIO requests for troubleshooting and engineering support.
• Provide training to customer on product maintenance and repair.
• Track product performance and recommend continuous improvements.
• Coordinate field modifications and monitor effectiveness.
• Perform joint investigation of failed components with the customer for warranty administration.
• Collaborate with Wabtec teams worldwide on issues, product development and training.
• Ensure timely resolution of customer issues and customer satisfaction.
• Report and communicate project updates and monthly meetings.
• Develop understanding of the customer’s business to identify growth opportunities.
• Day-to-day ERP transactions to ensure timely material movements.
• Monitor fleet performance and communicate trends to parts ordering and stock levels.
• Aim to achieve Level 1 certification training within 18 months.
• Operate safely and under site isolation processes.
