Job summary

Purple House in Alice Springs, NT, is looking for a Research Coordinator to support community consultation, participant engagement and data collection while ensuring cultural safety in all research activities.

The role works with the Senior Research Officer and Research Committee to strengthen governance, develop guidelines, and report findings to the Board. Travel to remote communities is expected.

Qualifications

• Experience in First Nations research and/or evaluation with ethical and culturally appropriate practices.
• Strong understanding of First Nations cultures, communities, and cultural protocols.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, ability to build trusted relationships with communities.

Responsibilities

• Provide cultural guidance on research activities, embedding First Nations voices in research.
• Communicate culturally safe research practices to stakeholders.
• Co-lead development of the Purple House Research Priority Framework and Guidelines.
• Support development and leadership of research projects, identifying partners and funding opportunities.
• Coordinate secretariat functions and participate in the Research Committee.
• Support governance processes, review expressions of interest, maintain the research register, and report to the Board.
• Engage research participants and communities through consultations, focus groups, surveys, and interviews.
• Record, organize and securely maintain research information and documentation.
• Communicate research information back to communities in accessible ways.
• Develop resources and materials to aid staff and partners in culturally safe research.
