Job summary

SAHMRI in Adelaide is seeking a Fieldwork Coordinator to lead a small team of Aboriginal researchers undertaking follow-up with families in Wave 3 of the Aboriginal Families Study. Based at SAHMRI Women and Kids, you will train staff, manage interviews and yarning circles, and coordinate engagement across urban, regional, and remote SA.

You will ensure ethical consent, data security, and collaboration with local communities, schools, and health services, contributing to research outputs.

Qualifications

• A relevant tertiary qualification and/or extensive experience in Aboriginal health research.
• Experience in Aboriginal health research and/or public health research.
• Ability to engage with Aboriginal communities respectfully and safely.
• Commitment to privacy and confidentiality of participant and project data.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and mentor a small team of Aboriginal researchers conducting interviews and yarning circles.
• Coordinate community engagement and follow-up with Aboriginal families in SA.
• Liaise with community organisations to facilitate interviews and data collection.
• Ensure culturally and ethically sound participant engagement and consent procedures.
• Oversee data management, data security and risk assessment during fieldwork.
• Assist with publication outputs and collaborate with the Aboriginal Governance Group.
