Job summary

Kestrel Coal Resources seeks a driven and confident Commercial Business Partner (Management Accountant) to join the on-site Commercial team in Emerald. You will partner with site leadership to deliver accurate budgeting, forecasting, cost modelling and month-end reporting, enabling informed commercial decisions and sustainable performance.

The role is hands-on, offering independence and growth in mining operations, with a focus on cost management, capital tracking and continuous process

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified in Accounting, Business, Commerce or a related field.
• Senior-level management accounting and business partnering experience, ideally within mining, resources or heavy industry.
• Strong experience with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and cost management.
• Ability to influence stakeholders and provide commercial challenge and decision support.
• Advanced Excel skills with large, complex datasets.
• Experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP.
• Strong communication skills to translate financial information for non-financial leaders.
• Proactive, commercially minded and independent in a hands-on environment.
• Well organised with ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Partner with operational leaders to strengthen financial understanding and provide commercial challenge for decision-making.
• Lead the preparation, development and ongoing monitoring of budgets, forecasts, cost models and capital expenditure plans.
• Manage month-end reporting processes and deliver clear commentary and management reporting.
• Take end-to-end ownership of financial performance across assigned departments and identify cost pressures.
• Drive continuous improvement across budgeting, forecasting, reporting and financial processes.
• Support core accounting and capital activities, including capital projects, asset disposals, and reviews.
