Job summary

Foxleigh Mine in Queensland invites applications for a site-based Commercial Accountant. Reporting to the Commercial Superintendent, you will own the full spectrum of site-based commercial activities including forecasting, reporting, and cost control.

You will bring a Bachelor-level degree in Business/Commerce/Accounting, be CA/CPA progressing, and have 3+ years post-qualification experience, preferably in mining.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree in Business, Commerce or Accounting.
• Progress toward CA/CPA or equivalent.
• 3+ years post-qualification accounting experience, mining preferred.
• Strong commercial acumen with data accuracy and timely reporting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly/quarterly forecasts with variance analysis and commentary.
• Manage internal and external financial reporting, including JV reports and audits.
• Enforce commercial policies and drive business improvement.
• Analyze and optimize costs to meet targets.
• Coordinate timely reporting per JV and management agreements.
• Support site personnel on financial, procurement, and commercial policies.
• Oversee contractor management and capital procurement.
• Drive innovation and high performance within the team.
• Oversee key projects to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.

About Foxleigh Mine:

Foxleigh Mine is located 15km south of Middlemount and approx. 275km northwest of Rockhampton. The mine is in its 25th year of operation producing premium PCI metallurgical coal for use in steel manufacturing. About the Role

Reporting to the Commercial Superintendent, the role will require you to be directly accountable for a full range of site-based commercial activities.

Duties:

• Prepare monthly/quarterly forecasts and associated variance analysis and commentary
• Manage internal and external financial reporting, including JV reports and assisting with financial audits.
• Enforce adherence to commercial policies, identifying and leading business improvement efforts.
• Analyze and optimize departmental and activity-based costs to meet financial targets.
• Coordinate timely reporting in accordance with Joint Venture and management agreements.
• Support site personnel on company financial, procurement, and commercial policies.
• Support departments in meeting commercial obligations, including contractor management and capital procurement.
• Drive a culture of innovation and high performance within the team.
• Oversee key projects to ensure they are completed on time and within budget.

About you:

A successful candidate will possess the following:

• Financial qualification (Bachelor level in Business, Commerce or Accounting) and working towards CA/CPA or equivalent.
• 3+ years of post-qualification accounting (preferably in the mining industry).
• Experience of working in a fast-paced environment with measurable outcomes.
• A willingness to be part of a winning team that delivers together.
• Demonstrate strong commercial acumen.
• Methodical, accurate and timely preparation of data, report writing and management information.
