Job summary

Quicksilver Cruises is seeking an Offshore Deckhand to join our marine team offshore from Port Douglas. The role involves working aboard vessels on reef trips, performing maintenance, and supporting day-to-day operations while living offshore for 3 nights per swing, on a rotating 4 days on/2 days off roster.

You will help with small craft operations, provide reef commentary, deliver outstanding guest service, and ensure safety for guests and crew.

Qualifications

• Coxswains NC1 certification or equivalent.
• First Aid and CPR certification required.
• Proficiency in rope handling and vessel docking.
• Good communication and teamwork in a small crew.
• Diving qualifications are an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Daily preparation and ongoing maintenance of offshore vessel, pontoon, small craft and equipment.
• Operation of small craft and coral viewers.
• Delivery of reef interpretive commentary.
• Provide high level customer service to guests.
• Ensure safety of customers and staff at all times.
• Safely handling ropes, lines and fenders.
• Assist other crew members as required.

Wage rate: $32.86-34.86 per hour

We are looking for enthusiastic and reliable Offshore Deckhands to join our team and support the safe and enjoyable operation of our reef cruises.

About the role

As an Offshore Deckhand, you’ll be part of a professional marine team working aboard our vessels and assisting with the day-to‑day operations of our reef trips.Youwill work a rotating roster of 4 days on/2 days off with a requirement to stay overnight for 3 nights onboard Quicksilver's offshore pontoon.

Reporting to the Marine Operations Manager your key responsibilities will include:

• Daily preparation and ongoing maintenance of the offshore maintenance vessel, pontoon, small craft and offshore equipment
• Operation of small craft and semi-submersible coral viewers
• Delivery of reef interpretive commentary
• Providing a high level of customer service to our guests
• Ensuring customer and staff safety is maintained at all times
• Safely handling ropes, lines and fenders
• Assisting other crewmembers as required

About you

We're looking for applicants who have the following skills or qualifications:

• Coxswains NC1
• First Aid and CPR
• Competency in rope handling and docking of vessels
• Ability to effectively communicate and work well in a small team environment
• Diving qualifications would be considered an advantage
