Job summary

Yancoal Australia is seeking an Open Cut Examiner to join the Blackwater operation. You will verify site safety practices, support supervisors, and ensure compliance with the Coal Mining Safety and Health Act and regulations.

The role requires an OCE certificate, Standard 11, a Coal Board Medical, and a strong focus on hazard identification and incident prevention at the mine site.

Qualifications

• Essential criteria include OCE certification and regulatory knowledge.
• Experience supervising workers in mining/heavy industry environments.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety and hazard identification.

Responsibilities

• Report to Mining Superintendent and support mine operations per safety and health management systems.
• Assist Mining Manager, Senior Supervisors and SSE to comply with legislation and site regulations.
• Communicate effectively with teams to maintain safe, efficient operations.

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Mining Superintendent, you will be a part of a dynamic and motivated team. The role willrequire you to support the Mining Manager, Senior Supervisors/Superintendents, Supervisors and the SSE tomanage the mine in accordance with the requirements of the site Safety and Health Management System, siteEnvironmental Management System, the Coal Mining Safety and Health Act 1999 and the Coal Mine Safetyand Health Regulation 2017.

Skills and Experience

Essential Criteria:

• Working knowledge of the Queensland Coal Mining Safety & Health Act and associated regulations;
• Knowledge and understanding of Safety Management Systems;
• Previous experience in the supervision of workers within a mining or heavy industry environment
• Current Coal Board Medical
• Current Standard 11 (Surface)
• Open Cut Examiner Certificate of Competency (Open Cut Coal Mines) Queensland

Desirable Criteria:

• Demonstrated skills in risk awareness, hazard identification and a strong commitment to safety
• Strong administration and organisational skills
• Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
• Demonstrated high level of communication, analytical and problem solving skills
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft office
