Job summary

LagardèreAWPL is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to own end-to-end New Zealand payroll from our Sydney base.

You will resolve payroll issues, manage reconciliations, and ensure compliance with NZ regulations while providing Australian payroll coverage during leave. Collaborate across UKG and HR systems in a busy retail environment, delivering accurate, timely payroll with a strong customer-service mindset.

Qualifications

• Strong end-to-end NZ payroll experience.
• Knowledge of NZ payroll legislation, including the Holidays Act.
• Experience with PAYE, KiwiSaver, ACC, leave, holiday pay and terminations.
• Australian payroll experience, ideally within retail and/or multiple Modern Awards.
• Strong systems capability, ideally including UKG.
• Confident Excel skills (pivots and vlookups).
• Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and a customer-service mindset.
• Confidence working independently and taking ownership of payroll issues through to resolution.

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end New Zealand payroll.
• Be the go-to expert for NZ payroll requirements and legislation.
• Provide Australian payroll cover during periods of leave.
• Support a complex retail workforce across multiple Modern Awards.
• Work across UKG, payroll and other HR systems.
• Use your strong Excel skills for reconciliations, reporting and problem-solving.
• Deliver responsive, high-quality service to employees, managers and HR.
• Join a collaborative Sydney-based team, working 4 days per week in the office.
