Job summary

LagardèreAWPL is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to own the New Zealand payroll end-to-end, navigate NZ legislation such as the Holidays Act, and resolve payroll issues promptly. You will also provide Australian payroll cover during leave, support a complex retail workforce under multiple Modern Awards, and work across UKG and other HR systems, using Excel for reconciliations and reporting.

Qualifications

• Strong end-to-end NZ payroll experience.
• Sound knowledge of NZ payroll legislation, including the Holidays Act.
• Experience with PAYE, KiwiSaver, ACC, leave, holiday pay and terminations.
• Australian payroll experience, ideally within retail and/or multiple Modern Awards.
• Strong systems capability, ideally including UKG.
• Confident Excel skills (pivots and vlookups).
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and a genuine customer-service mindset.
• Confidence working independently and taking ownership of payroll issues through to resolution.

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end New Zealand payroll.
• Be the go-to expert for NZ payroll requirements and legislation.
• Provide Australian payroll cover during periods of leave.
• Support a complex retail workforce across multiple Modern Awards.
• Work across UKG, payroll and other HR systems.
• Use your strong Excel skills for reconciliations, reporting and problem-solving.
• Deliver responsive, high-quality service to employees, managers and HR.
• Join a collaborative Sydney-based team, working 4 days per week in the office.
