Job summary

Family Planning Australia is seeking a Nurse Manager for Perioperative Services (Day Surgery Unit) to lead clinical governance, workforce, and operational performance. Fixed term part-time role from Oct 1 2026 to Feb 5 2027, 32 hours per week, at Newington Clinic.

You will oversee perioperative service delivery, collaborate with Practice Managers, ensure high-quality patient care, and drive service improvements in a values-based environment.

Qualifications

• Current RN registration with AHPRA, no restrictions.
• Minimum 5 years’ perioperative nursing experience.
• At least 12 months managing a day surgery or operating suite.
• Knowledge of NSQHS/ACORN/ANZCA standards and infection control.
• Understanding of budget, human resources, rostering and recruitment principles.
• Ability to drive performance to targets and budgets while maintaining staff engagement.
• Strong leadership and communication skills with IT proficiency.
• Experience in strategic planning and project management.
• Understanding of clinical governance, risk management and quality improvement frameworks.
• Ability to develop and maintain stakeholder relationships.
• Must have full Australian working rights.
• Experience with certification in infection control or sterilisation services.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic, clinical and operational leadership of perioperative services including Day Surgery Unit, theatre and CSSD.
• Lead workforce planning, budgeting, quality improvement and risk management.
• Ensure NSQHS/ACORN/AS5163 compliance and infection prevention practices.
• Drive continuous improvement and evidence-based practice.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to achieve organisational goals.
• Support change management and service innovation while meeting deadlines.
