Job summary

Canberra Surgicentre in Braddon, ACT, is seeking a motivated Assistant Practice Manager - Registered Nurse to join our Day Hospital team. The role supports the Practice Manager in delivering patient-centred care, maintaining clinical standards and accreditation, and driving business performance.

You will provide clinical leadership to nursing and clinical staff, ensure safe, high-quality care in line with professional standards, and assist with recruitment, rostering, governance, and monitoring

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Nursing and AHPRA registered.
• Experience in theatre, day surgery, dental, or perioperative settings highly regarded.
• Ability to lead nursing and clinical teams and support practice operations.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day leadership and operations support to the practice.
• Provide clinical leadership and professional support to nursing and clinical teams.
• Ensure safe, high-quality, patient-centred care in line with standards.
• Support accreditation, governance, infection control, and compliance requirements.
• Assist with recruitment, onboarding, performance management and staff development.
• Assist with rostering, workforce planning and resource allocation.
• Manage clinical incidents, patient complaints and risks; drive safety improvements.
• Monitor practice performance, including budgets and key metrics.
• Step in as Acting Practice Manager when needed.
