Job summary

Arcare Aged Care Boronia is seeking a Nurse Unit Manager to lead the care team within a dedicated unit, delivering high‑quality, person‑centred clinical care with compassion and promoting a positive, collaborative work environment for staff.

You will oversee individual care planning, medication management, and wound care, ensure staff supervision and effective family communication, and demonstrate leadership in crisis situations while upholding AHPRA registration and ANNAC standards.

Qualifications

• Current AHPRA registration as a nurse
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in aged care as a Registered Nurse
• Knowledge of aged care accreditation standards
• Comprehensive knowledge and experience with ANNAC
• Expertise in medication administration and wound care
• Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills
• Strong care planning, goal setting and evaluation documentation

Responsibilities

• Resident care: deliver high-quality, person-centred care
• Staff supervision: lead nurses, carers and support staff

About The Role

The Nurse Unit Manager you will play a pivotal role within Arcare; having the responsibility for providing leadership and oversight of the care team within a specific unit.

You will deliver the highest quality of clinical care along with compassion to every Arcare Resident while maintaining a supportive & positive work environment for the care team.

Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

• Resident Care: Ensuring the delivery of high-quality and person-centered care to residents, addressing their specific medical, physical, and emotional needs
• Staff Supervision: Managing and leading a team of healthcare professionals, including nurses, caregivers and support staff
• Care Planning: Overseeing the development and implementation of individual care plans for each resident, considering their unique health requirements and preferences
• Medication Management: Ensuring proper administration and management of medications for residents, adhering to prescribed schedules and protocols
• Family Communication: Communicating effectively with residents' families or legal guardians, providing updates on their loved one's condition and involving them in care decisions when appropriate
• Crisis Management: Handling emergency situations and critical incidents promptly and effectively

What We’re Looking For

• Current AHPRA Registration
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Aged Care as a Registered Nurse
• Knowledge of Aged Care accreditation standards
• Comprehensive knowledge and experience with ANNAC
• Expertise in medication administration and wound care with a commitment to ongoing clinical excellence
• Demonstrated leadership, communication and interpersonal skills
• An outstanding proficiency in care planning, goal setting and evaluation documentation
• Capability to effectively lead and manage a team
