Job summary

Blue Iris Support Services in Queensland is seeking a Nurse Educator/Disability Support Manager for a temporary dual role blending leadership, participant support oversight and practical education. For the right person, there is potential for permanency.

You will operate across SIL homes and the office, guided by our Clinical Nurse, ensuring safe, person-centred care and compliant practice. Strong leadership and education experience in disability or mental health is essential.

Qualifications

• Nurse with AHPRA registration.
• Experience in disability, mental health or related services.
• Ability to respond to complex presentations and high‑pressure situations.
• Strong leadership, conflict-resolution, and performance-management skills.
• Experience delivering workplace education, coaching, or competency-based training.
• Understanding of professional scope, delegation, escalation pathways.
• Knowledge of the NDIS Practice Standards, safeguarding, positive behaviour support.
• Excellent communication, organisation, and documentation.
• Current First Aid and CPR certificates.
• NDIS Worker Screening and Working with Children checks (as required).
• Valid open Australian driver’s license and reliable vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Oversee safe, person-centred supports.
• Guide teams working with participants with complex needs.
• Work across SIL homes and the office, providing leadership.
• Manage staff concerns, workplace conflict, performance issues.
• Coach staff and provide clear, respectful feedback.
• Deliver induction, refresher and participant education under Clinical Nurse.
• Assist with competency assessments and maintain training records.
• Reinforce care plans, policies and incident procedures.
• Respond calmly to incidents and escalate safeguarding concerns.
• Collaborate with participants, families and other stakeholders.
