Job summary

Blue Iris Support Services in Atherton, QLD is seeking a compassionate Disability Support Worker for a casual role. You will assist individuals with disabilities to participate in community activities, support independence, and help clients achieve personal goals within a person-centred care model.

Role requires empathy, reliable transport, and the ability to work flexibly in a casual arrangement. Training and ongoing support are provided to ensure high quality care.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in disability support or similar care environment.
• Current or willingness to obtain Working with Children Check / Blue Card clearance.
• Current or willingness to obtain Workers Screening Card / Yellow Card clearance.
• Current or willingness to obtain First Aid and CPR certification.
• A valid driver’s licence and access to reliable transport (preferred).

Blue Iris Support Services is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Disability Support Worker to join our team in Atherton, QLD 4883. This is a casual position that offers flexibility whilst making a meaningful difference in the lives of people with disabilities. As a Disability Support Worker, you will provide essential support and assistance to individuals with varying support needs, enabling them to participate in community activities, develop independence, and achieve their personal goals. This role is fundamental to our mission of delivering person-centred care and support within the local community. Our passion is to empower people to make choices and take control of their lives in order to live the life they want。

Key responsibilities

Providing personal care where required and personalised support in accordance with the personal plan.

Support clients to participate in community activities, social events and recreational programs that promote engagement and independence.

Encouraging positive and socially appropriate behaviour and effectively manage challenging behaviours.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of support provided and report any concerns or observations to management

Support clients to develop life skills and pursue their personal goals and aspirations

Respond to client requests and concerns with empathy, patience and professionalism

Adhere to all health and safety protocols, including infection control and emergency procedures

What we're looking for

A genuine passion for supporting people with disabilities and a commitment to person-centred care

Previous experience in disability support, aged care, community services or a similar care environment

Current or willingness to obtain a valid Working with Children Check / Blue Card clearance

Current or willingness to obtain a valid Workers Screening Card / Yellow card clearance

Current or willingness to obtain First Aid and CPR certification

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and trust with clients and management
