Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Senior or Principal Nuclear Safety Engineer based in Adelaide or Sydney to deliver safety case leadership across defence projects. You will work within a mature global team to support growth in the Australian market and provide guidance from technical leads.

Role involves shaping strategy, safety assessments, reporting, and coordinating with partners to ensure safety-informed design.

Qualifications

• Proven track record in safety, ideally within defence and nuclear domains.
• Eligible for Australian Government security clearance.
• Strong understanding of the Australian defence ecosystem.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Responsibilities

• Shape the nuclear safety case strategy.
• Collaborate with diverse customers and stakeholders to deliver engineering solutions.
• Contribute to complex proposals and pursue new business opportunities.
• Provide engineering support for design, construction and maintenance of defence platforms and infrastructure.
• Forecast, monitor and report engineering performance; identify risks.
• Work with project partners to ensure safety-informed design.
• Undertake safety assessments and analyses.
• Produce safety reports and other technical documents.
• Lead Safety Case activities and teams.
