Job summary

voco Melbourne Central, part of IHG Hotels & Resorts, is seeking a Full Time Night Manager to lead overnight operations, supervise the night team and ensure seamless service and safety.

You will manage late check-ins, VIP arrivals, Night Audit, nightly reconciliations and handover to the morning team, acting as Chief Warden and upholding brand standards throughout the night.

Full Time Night Manager

We’re looking for a Full Time Night Manager to take charge of our hotel operations overnight, lead our night team and ensure our guests receive the same high level of service and care, no matter what time they arrive.

This is a hands‑on leadership role where you’ll be the senior point of contact overnight — from managing late arrivals and guest requests to responding to emergencies, overseeing the night audit and ensuring the hotel is safe, secure and ready for the morning team.

What you'll be doing

As our Night Manager, you will:

• Lead and supervise the Front Office and overnight hotel operations team, including Night Auditor.
• Be the senior leader and key point of contact for guests, colleagues and operational matters overnight.
• Oversee late check-ins, VIP arrivals, guest requests and service recovery.
• Handle guest concerns and complaints with a calm, professional and solutions-focused approach.
• Oversee and actively support the Night Audit process, ensuring the hotel’s daily financial transactions are accurately reconciled and the end‑of‑day procedures are completed correctly.
• Review Night Audit reports, revenue transactions, payment settlements and daily financial figures, identifying and resolving discrepancies where required.
• Ensure all Night Audit procedures are completed accurately and within required timeframes.
• Act as Chief Warden overnight, coordinating emergency and evacuation procedures when required.
• Conduct regular safety and security checks throughout the hotel, including guest floors, public areas and emergency exits.
• Respond to after-hours incidents and coordinate with emergency services when required.
• Review and approve Night Audit reports, ensuring accurate end‑of‑day reconciliation.
• Complete overnight operational reports, incident reports, handover notes and issue logs for the morning leadership team.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Housekeeping, and other departments to resolve overnight operational requirements.
• Ensure IHG and voco brand standards are maintained throughout the night.
• Create a respectful, supportive and positive environment for our overnight team.
• Ensure the hotel is operationally ready for a smooth handover to the morning team.

What we're looking for

You’ll be a confident hospitality professional who enjoys taking ownership and making decisions. You’re comfortable working independently, leading a team and remaining calm when things don’t go according to plan.

Ideally, you will have:

• Previous experience in a Night Manager, Assistant Night Manager, Duty Manager or senior Front Office leadership role within a hotel.
• Strong hands‑on experience with hotel Night Audit processes, including end‑of‑day procedures, financial reconciliation and reporting.
• A strong understanding of hotel Front Office operations and overnight procedures.
• Experience supervising and supporting a team in an overnight environment.
• Excellent guest service and complaint resolution skills.
• Strong understanding of hotel safety, security and emergency procedures.
• The ability to remain calm, composed and solutions-focused under pressure.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• A high level of attention to detail, particularly with financial reconciliation, Night Audit and reporting.
• Experience with Opera PMS is highly desirable.
• The ability to work independently and confidently make decisions when senior management are not on site.
• Full Australian working rights.
• A full Australian driver’s licence is preferred, as the role may assist with valet parking and moving guest vehicles when required.
• Flexibility and commitment to working overnight shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
