Job summary

voco Melbourne Central is seeking an experienced hospitality professional for the Full Time Assistant Night Manager role. You will lead the overnight operation, support the Night Audit process and ensure guest service remains exceptional through the night.

You will step up as the senior overnight leader, coordinating the night team and maintaining standards across front office, safety and reporting until morning. A driver’s license and Australian working rights are required.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a Night Audit, Night Manager, Assistant Night Manager, Duty Manager or senior Front Office role within a hotel.
• Strong understanding of hotel Front Office and overnight operations.
• Experience with Night Audit end-of-day procedures and financial reconciliation.

• Support the Night Manager in the overall operation of the hotel during overnight shifts.
• Act as the senior overnight leader when the Night Manager is unavailable, overseeing guest service and hotel operations.
• Lead and support the Front Office and overnight team, including Night Auditors.
• Manage late arrivals, check-ins, guest requests and service recovery.
• Oversee the Night Audit process and end-of-day procedures for accurate reconciliation.
• Review Night Audit reports and resolve discrepancies.
• Provide coaching and guidance to overnight team members.
• Maintain safety checks and coordinate with departments for overnight issues.

Full Time Assistant Night Manager

We’re looking for a Full Time Assistant Night Manager to join our Front Office team and play a key role in leading the hotel overnight.

Working alongside our Night Manager, you’ll help oversee the overnight operation, support the Night Audit process, look after our guests and lead the night team. When our Night Manager is on days off or leave, you’ll step up and take responsibility for the hotel operation overnight.

What you'll be doing

As our Assistant Night Manager, you will:

• Support the Night Manager in the overall operation of the hotel during overnight shifts.

• Act as the senior overnight leader when the Night Manager is on days off or leave, taking responsibility for guest service, team coordination and hotel operations.

• Lead and support the Front Office and overnight team, including Night Auditors.

• Be a visible and approachable leader for guests and colleagues throughout the night.

• Manage late arrivals, check-ins, guest requests, VIP arrivals and service recovery.

• Handle guest concerns and complaints professionally and with a solutions-focused approach.

• Assist with and oversee the Night Audit process, ensuring end-of-day procedures and financial reconciliation are completed accurately.

• Review Night Audit reports and assist with identifying and resolving discrepancies.

• Complete operational reports, incident reports and detailed handovers for the morning team.

• Conduct regular safety and security checks throughout the hotel.

• Respond to after-hours emergencies and coordinate with emergency services when required.

• Support emergency and evacuation procedures and act as a key member of the hotel's overnight emergency response team.

• Coordinate with Engineering, Housekeeping, Security and other departments to resolve overnight operational matters.

• Ensure IHG and voco service, cleanliness and operational standards are maintained throughout the night.

• Ensure the hotel is secure, well-presented and operationally ready for the morning team.

• Provide coaching, guidance and support to overnight team members.

• Assist the Night Manager with maintaining a positive, respectful and collaborative overnight working environment.

What we're looking for

You’ll be a confident hospitality professional who is ready to take the next step in your career and develop your leadership experience.

Ideally, you will have:

• Previous experience in a Night Audit, Night Manager, Assistant Night Manager, Duty Manager or senior Front Office role within a hotel.

• Strong understanding of hotel Front Office and overnight operations.

• Hands-on experience with Night Audit, end-of-day procedures and financial reconciliation.

• Previous experience leading or supervising a hotel team is highly desirable.

• Excellent guest service and complaint resolution skills.

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy with financial transactions and reporting.

• The ability to remain calm and make sound decisions when working independently overnight.

• Strong communication, organization and problem-solving skills.

• A professional and approachable leadership style.

• Experience with Opera PMS or a similar hotel property management system is highly desirable.

• An ability to step up and take full responsibility for the hotel overnight

• Full Australian working rights is required

• Flexibility to work overnight shifts, including weekends and public holidays.

• A current, full Australian driver’s license is required, as the role will assist with valet parking and moving guest vehicles when required.
