About the role

We're seeking a Network Engineer to maintain and support the network/s operations that support core organizational functions and assure their high availability.

You'll join an innovative team that collaborates to provide support across Transurban's enterprise-wide and roadside network with a variety of project and BAU activity.

Travel and On-Call

Travel is required to Transurban's offices, the Data Centres in Mitcham and Port Melbourne and this role provides 24x7 support via an on call rotating roster.

Day-to-day, you will:
  • Provide third level network management to support Transurban operations
  • Make network security a priority and ensure entire Transurban network is secured as effectively as possible
  • Meet and maintain PCIDSS requirements for network
  • Log all Service Requests in the IT Service Desk system and maintain accurate, complete and up-to-date information
  • Liaise with Customers to keep them informed of network related incidents
  • Minimise interruptions to IT services resulting from changes
  • Risk assess changes to Network (with assistance from other team members where required) and mitigate risks where possible
  • Identifiy problems introduced by changes through post-release testing and support; back out changes if necessary
  • Participate in on‑call rotating roster (14 week cycle, on‑call allowance and time off in lieu provided)
  • Travel to the Data Centres in Mitcham and Port Melbourne as required
  • Liaise with internal, external stakeholders and vendors

  • Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to conceptualise complex computer networks
  • Ability to handle the challenges of a varied role in a dynamic organisation
  • Self‑motivation with good organisational skills
  • Excellent written and oral interpersonal skills, able to deal effectively with personnel at all levels
  • Knowledge of networking concepts (switches, routers, protocols such as TCP/IP, etc.)
  • Knowledge of routing protocols and concepts (BGP, OSPF, IS‑IS, etc.)
  • Advanced configuration knowledge of Cisco Routers and Switches including Nexus (desirable)
  • Experience with application‑layer and web technologies including web application firewalls (Palo Alto or Cisco) and caching/compression techniques
  • Computer Science or related tertiary degree (desirable)
  • 100% reliable team member
