Job summary

Ventia in Parramatta is seeking an experienced Network Design Engineer to design high-quality telecommunications networks across fibre, DWDM, SDH, Ethernet and MPLS/IP. This full-time role sits in a secure, state-of-the-art facility in Parramatta five days a week.

You will develop detailed network designs, engineering documentation and artefacts to enable seamless delivery across transport platforms. You will shape future networks and ensure reliability.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Telecommunications, Engineering or Information Technology.
• Experience designing telecommunications networks across Enterprise/Core/Access/Mobile environments.
• Strong understanding of IP/MPLS networks, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, ISIS) and IPv4/IPv6.
• Experience using design/provisioning systems such as Helix, Spatial Web, Netconfig.
• Ability to produce high‑quality technical documentation and engineering drawings.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Cisco certifications (CCNA/CCNP) or equivalent are highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Design network elements, links, and services across Core and Access Transport Platforms.
• Produce detailed design packages including drawings, scopes of work, BOMs, and completion records.
• Ensure design integrity from order acknowledgement through to customer acceptance.
• Support diverse site environments including mobile base stations, transmission hubs, data centres and exchange facilities.
• Maintain compliance with engineering standards, WHS requirements, and customer guidelines.
• Contribute to reporting, forward planning, milestones, and alignment across customer systems.
• Mentor, train, and support team members while contributing to Ventia Solutions growth.

About The Role

You will be responsible for developing detailed network designs, engineering documentation, and technical artefacts that enable seamless delivery across a range of transport platforms. You will help shape the future of our fibre, microwave radio, DWDM, SDH, and Ethernet networks, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and high performance.

As a Network Design Engineer, You Will

• Design network elements, links, and services across Core and Access Transport Platforms.
• Produce detailed design packages including drawings, scopes of work, bills of materials, and completion records.
• Ensure design integrity from order acknowledgement through to customer acceptance.
• Support diverse site environments including mobile base stations, transmission hubs, data centres, and exchange facilities.
• Maintain strong compliance with engineering standards, WHS requirements, and customer guidelines.

What We’re Looking For

• Tertiary qualifications in Telecommunications, Engineering, Information Technology or a related discipline
• Experience designing telecommunications networks across Enterprise, Core, Access or Mobile environments
• Strong understanding of IP/MPLS networks, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, ISIS) and IPv4/IPv6
• Experience using telecommunications design and provisioning systems such as Helix, Spatial Web, Netconfig or similar platforms
• Ability to produce high‑quality technical documentation, network designs and engineering drawings
• Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and problem‑solving skills
• Cisco certifications (CCNA, CCNP) or equivalent certifications are highly regarded
