Job summary

Murdoch University is seeking a necropsy technician to support teaching, research and diagnostic activities in the necropsy suite. Responsibilities include maintaining operations, ensuring cleanliness, assisting with necropsies, data entry, and records management in compliance with SOPs and legislative standards.

Qualifications

• Completion of a relevant degree or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
• Knowledge of necropsy techniques and procedures and a demonstrated ability to work with animal cadavers and specimens.
• Experience maintaining accurate laboratory records and notes and excellent organisational skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to liaise with stakeholders at all levels.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and to be an effective team member.

Responsibilities

• Maintain necropsy suite operations.
• Ensure cleanliness, equipment readiness, and proper disposal of remains.
• Support pathology services – assist with necropsies, sample handling, data entry, and technical support for teaching and research.
• Manage records and compliance – document procedures, maintain SOPs, and ensuring adherence to university and legislative standards.
