UNSW is seeking a Laboratory Assistant in the Gross Anatomy Support Unit (GASU) to support the delivery of anatomy teaching, research and mortuary services in Kensington, Sydney. The role involves preparing specimens, assisting with dissections and embalming, and maintaining safety and regulatory compliance within the laboratory environment.

You will handle anatomical materials and donor processes under supervision, ensuring accurate records and respectful handling of tissues in a busy teaching

Qualifications

• Certificate in relevant discipline or equivalent knowledge/experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of human anatomy with dissection of cadaveric material.
• Exposure to embalming or mortuary practices.
• Experience handling preservation processes and chemicals.
• Understanding of NSW Anatomy Act 1977 and related legislation.
• Laboratory/technical support skills with preservatives/chemicals.

Responsabilités

• Support preparation and maintenance of anatomical specimens and lab resources.
• Assist dissections, embalming and preservation activities.
• Maintain laboratory and mortuary facilities; manage specimen tracking records.
• Ensure compliance with legislation and University policies; support safety standards.
• Assist with donor management and on-call mortuary operations.
