Job summary

METS (QLD) PTY LTD in Queensland is seeking an experienced Level 2 NDT Technician to join our inspection and testing team. You will perform non-destructive testing in accordance with applicable standards, client specifications and safety requirements.

Applicants certified in PT, MT, RT, UT and with Level 2 qualification are encouraged to apply. You will set up, calibrate and operate NDT equipment, interpret results and prepare reports, while maintaining equipment and adhering to safety.

Qualifications

• ISO 9712 Level 2 certification strongly preferred.
• Current Level 2 certification in one or more NDT methods.
• Ability to travel and work on site, including shifts, offshore work or work at height.

Responsibilities

• Perform NDT examinations in accordance with approved procedures and applicable standards.
• Set up, calibrate and operate NDT equipment.
• Interpret and evaluate test results within the scope of Level 2 certification.
• Identify, record and report defects or relevant indications.
• Complete inspection reports and other technical documentation.
• Ensure equipment is maintained, calibrated and fit for purpose.
• Review drawings, specifications, inspection plans and client requirements.
• Liaise with clients, engineers, supervisors and inspection personnel.

Job description

Applicants with certification and practical experience in one or more of the following methods are encouraged to apply:

• Penetrant Testing PT
• Magnetic Particle Testing MT
• Radiographic Testing RT
• Ultrasonic Testing UT

Key Responsibilities

• Perform NDT examinations in accordance with approved procedures and applicable standards.
• Set up, calibrate and operate NDT equipment.
• Interpret and evaluate test results accurately within the scope of Level 2 certification.
• Identify, record and report defects or relevant indications.
• Complete inspection reports, worksheets and other technical documentation.
• Ensure equipment is maintained, calibrated and fit for purpose.
• Review drawings, specifications, inspection plans and client requirements.
• Liaise professionally with clients, engineers, supervisors and inspection personnel.
• Comply with company, site and radiation safety requirements.

Certification Requirements

ISO 9712 Level 2 certification is strongly preferred. Applicants holding relevant ASNT certification may also be considered based on the certification scheme, methods held, certification scope, practical experience and demonstrated technical capability.

Current Level 2 certification is required in one or more of the following methods:

• Strong knowledge of NDT principles, test techniques, equipment and defect interpretation.
• Ability to read technical drawings and follow written procedures.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Commitment to quality, safety and professional standards.
• Willingness to travel and work on site, including shifts, offshore work or work at height where required.

Desirable Qualifications

• ISO 9712 Level 2 certification across multiple NDT methods.
• Current Queensland Radiation Use Licence where radiographic testing duties are required.
• Current Australian driver's licence.
