Job summary

AW Bell is seeking Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Technicians to join during a period of growth. You will perform penetrant and radiography testing on castings and help drive a culture of positivity, accountability and continuous improvement.

As an authorised Nadcap-certified NDT facility, you will prepare castings for inspection, identify defects, generate detailed reports and ensure equipment is calibrated and maintained, with safety at the forefront.

Qualifications

• Diploma in relevant field and 1 year full-time experience, or 3 years equivalent.
• Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT2) and/or Digital Radiography certification or level 2 experience.
• Ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.
• Strong computer skills, including MS Office and Guardian software.
• Experience with quality management systems (AS9100 desirable) and technical documentation.
• Experience in metal casting inspection and reading casting drawings.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

The salary range for this position is $79,500 – $84,000 per year, excluding superannuation. What you’ll be doing:

• Performing various non-destructive testing inspection techniques including penetrant, radiography, and other types as required.
• Prepare castings for inspection, including cleaning, surface preparation, and safe handling.
• Identify defects such as cracks, discontinuities, surface irregularities, linear indications, through-wall defects, and shrinkage.
• Interpret relevant standards and classify defects in accordance with industry and component acceptance criteria.
• Generate detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate quality documentation, including detailing identified defects, data transfer, image preparation, creation, and formatting.
• Ensure all inspection equipment is calibrated and properly maintained.
• Conduct system performance checks in line with applicable process standards.
• Adhere to safety procedures, including handling of heavy castings, chemical safety, and radiation safety requirements.
• Assisting with the development of inspection guidelines, procedures and standards.

What you bring:

• A relevant Diploma and at least 1 year of full time work experience in the field, or 3 years equivalent full time work experience.
• Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT2) and/or Digital Radiography certified, or with demonstrated experience at level 2.
• The ability to interpret data, solve problems, and make data-driven decisions
• High level computer skills (including MS Office and Guardian software system)
• Experience with quality management systems (AS9100 highly desirable) and in-depth understanding of technical documentation.
• Experience in metal casting inspection.
• Understanding of common casting defects and production processes.
• Ability to read casting drawings and interpret specifications.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and influence
