Job summary

Flourish Australia is seeking an NDIS Mental Health Officer based at Macquarie Hospital, North Ryde, with travel across the Northern Sydney Local Health District. Closed-term full-time until 30 June 2027 (possible extension) and Monday to Friday.

The role aims to improve access to the NDIS for people with psychosocial disability, identify eligible individuals, assist with NDIS planning and utilisation, and build staff capability across LHD teams while collaborating with NDIA and other providers.

Responsibilities

• Identify people eligible for the NDIS and assist them to obtain the appropriate support.
• Work across all aspects of the NDIS journey, including access, planning, plan implementation and plan utilisation.
• Build the capacity of LHD mental health service staff around the NDIS.
• Collaborate with NDIA, Local Area Coordinators and other NDIS providers to connect people with supports.

The position available is:

• Based at Macquarie Hospital in North Ryde, with travel across the LHD
• Closed-term full-time until 30 June 2027 (with possibility of extension)
• Working Monday to Friday
• $107,800p.a. + Super + Salary Packaging!

About the Opportunity

The overall aim of the NDIS Mental Health Officer is to improve the access to and experience of the NDIS for people with psychosocial disability. The NDIS Mental Health Officer will:

• Work with local health district (LHD) mental health services to identify people who are or are likely to be eligible for the NDIS, and assist them to obtain the appropriate support through the NDS.
• Work across all aspects of the NDIS journey, including access, planning, plan implementation and plan utilisation.
• Focus on building the capacity of LHD mental health service staff around the NDIS.
• Work with the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA), Local Area Coordinators, NDIS Support Coordinators, NDIS Psychosocial Recovery Coaches and other NDIS providers as required to ensure people are connected to the NDIS and the supports they will benefit from.

Selection Criteria

• Qualifications in human services or relevant field and/or relevant work experience in psychosocial disability.
• Demonstrated experience of working with people with psychosocial disability and supporting them to access and utilise the NDIS.
