Job summary

Flourish Australia invites applications for an NDIS Mental Health Officer based at Macquarie Hospital, North Ryde. You will travel across the Local Health District to identify eligible NDIS participants and help them access NDIS supports.

The role covers all stages of the NDIS journey, aims to build staff capacity in NDIS processes, and requires a current unrestricted Australian driver’s licence. Closed-term until 30 June 2027 with extension possible.

Qualifications

• Qualifications in human services or relevant field and/or relevant work experience in psychosocial disability.
• Demonstrated experience of working with people with psychosocial disability and supporting them to access and utilise the NDIS.
• Current unrestricted Australian driver's licence.

• Work with local health district (LHD) mental health services to identify people who are or are likely to be eligible for the NDIS, and assist them to obtain the appropriate support through the NDIS.
• Work across all aspects of the NDIS journey, including access, planning, plan implementation and plan utilisation.
• Focus on building the capacity of LHD mental health service staff around the NDIS.
• Work with the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA), Local Area Coordinators, NDIS Support Coordinators, NDIS Psychosocial Recovery Coaches and other NDIS providers as required to ensure people are connected to the NDIS and the supports they will benefit from.

About the Opportunity

The overall aim of the NDIS Mental Health Officer is to improve the access to and experience of the NDIS for people with psychosocial disability. The NDIS Mental Health Officer will:

• Work with local health district (LHD) mental health services to identify people who are or are likely to be eligible for the NDIS, and assist them to obtain the appropriate support through the NDIS.

• Work across all aspects of the NDIS journey, including access, planning, plan implementation and plan utilisation.

• Focus on building the capacity of LHD mental health service staff around the NDIS.

• Work with the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA), Local Area Coordinators, NDIS Support Coordinators, NDIS Psychosocial Recovery Coaches and other NDIS providers as required to ensure people are connected to the NDIS and the supports they will benefit from.

Selection Criteria

Essential:

• Qualifications in human services or relevant field and/or relevant work experience in psychosocial disability.
