Job summary

IAG Defence & National Security in Canberra (ACT) is seeking an experienced Naval Architect to join a Defence maritime program. This senior role focuses on the design, analysis and development of advanced naval systems and vessels.

You will bring a strong background in ship design and marine engineering, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality design outcomes while meeting security and regulatory requirements. NV1 clearance required.

Qualifications

• Current NV1 security clearance.
• Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Ocean Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Strong background in naval architecture, ship design and marine engineering.
• Proficiency in relevant design and analysis software.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Conduct structural and hydrodynamic analyses to support vessel design and verification
• Review and optimise vessel designs, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver high-quality technical outcomes
• Provide technical expertise and support to stakeholders throughout project lifecycles
• Support design review, design acceptance and technical certification activities

The Role

We're looking for an experienced Naval Architect to join a Defence maritime program in Canberra. This is a great opportunity for a senior naval architecture professional to play a critical role in the design, analysis and development of advanced naval systems and vessels.

You'll bring a strong background in ship design and marine engineering, handling complex technical problems and working closely with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to deliver high-quality design outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
