Job summary

IAG Defence & National Security is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to join a Defence program office in Canberra, providing technical authority, safety analysis, and engineering decisions on a high-assurance system. You will mentor engineers, collaborate with Commonwealth counterparts, and ensure delivered systems meet regulatory requirements while staying onsite at least three days per week.

This role requires NV1 clearance and a Bachelor of Engineering with Professional Engineer

The Role

We're looking for an experienced Systems Engineer to join a Defence program office in Canberra, supporting the modernisation and sustainment of a critical secure communications capability. This is a great opportunity for a senior engineer to exercise real technical authority – providing advice, conducting safety analysis and shaping engineering decisions on a complex, high-assurance program. You'll work closely with engineering teams and Commonwealth counterparts, mentoring developing engineers while ensuring delivered systems meet requirements and regulatory frameworks.

Required

• Current NV1 security clearance
• Senior engineering experience within a complex Defence environment
• Understanding of the One Defence Capability System (ODCS)
• Bachelor of Engineering (or equivalent) with Professional Engineer registration
• Ability to work onsite a minimum of 3 days per week
