Job summary

IAG Defence & National Security in Canberra (ACT) is seeking an experienced Commercial & Procurement Manager to lead procurement, contracting and probity activities across the program lifecycle. You will provide practical commercial advice to the Commonwealth, coordinating with program leadership, finance, legal and industry partners.

In this Defence environment you will manage tender development, evaluation and contract negotiations, with a focus on value for money and risk management.

Qualifications

• Current NV1 security clearance is required.
• Experience in commercial management, procurement or contract management within a complex government/Defence environment.
• Strong knowledge of Commonwealth procurement and contracting principles.
• Experience with tender evaluation, contract negotiation and management of contractual changes.
• Strong written communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage Commonwealth contracts throughout their lifecycle, including variations, extensions and performance monitoring.
• Support tender development and evaluation, including commercial risk assessment of tender responses.
• Plan, coordinate and participate in contract negotiations, developing strategies and fallback positions.
• Identify, assess and manage commercial and contractual risks, escalating material issues where required.
• Support probity management and coordinate industry engagement, briefings and tenderer debriefings.

The Role

We're looking for an experienced Commercial & Procurement Manager to join a Defence program team in Canberra. This is a great opportunity for a commercial professional to lead procurement, contracting and probity activities across the program lifecycle, helping the Commonwealth achieve value for money while managing commercial risk.

You will work closely with program leadership, project managers, finance, legal and industry partners – providing practical commercial advice across tendering, negotiation and contract management in a complex Defence environment.

Desirable Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Commerce, Business, Law, Finance, Procurement and Contracting, Project Management or a related discipline
• Relevant Commonwealth procurement, contracting or commercial management qualifications
