Job summary

Protecta Group is seeking a seasoned National Operations Manager to lead branch and warehouse operations across Australia. You will drive safety, efficiency and cost performance while coaching site leaders and improving stock management.

The role requires strong leadership, budgeting, ERP/WMS proficiency and the ability to travel nationally to support branches. This is a full-time, on-site position within a family-owned Australian business focused on growth and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Experience leading operations across multiple sites, including warehouses and distribution.
• Proven track record coaching managers and improving operational performance.
• Sound knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory management, freight and workplace safety.
• Strong commercial judgement with budget review experience and data-driven decisions.
• Ability to implement consistent processes while adapting to branch needs.

Responsibilities

About the role

We’re looking for an experienced, practical National Operations Manager to lead the performance of Protecta’s branch and warehouse operations across Australia.

You’ll work closely with branch leaders and teams across the business to ensure our operations run safely, efficiently and consistently. From warehouse performance and stock accuracy to freight, costs and team development, you’ll have a broad remit and the opportunity to make improvements that are felt across the business.

This role suits someone who can set a clear direction, coach others and stay close to what is happening on the warehouse floor.

What you’ll be doing

• Leading national branch and warehouse operations, with accountability for safety, service, efficiency and cost performance.
• Coaching and supporting branch operations leaders, setting clear expectations and building team capability.
• Overseeing receiving, storage, picking, packing, dispatch and returns, and establishing consistent standards across sites.
• Strengthening inventory accuracy through stocktakes, cycle counts and effective stock controls.
• Working with Purchasing and Sales to improve stock availability, branch transfers and management of excess stock.
• Managing freight and carrier performance to support reliable deliveries and effective cost control.
• Working with Sales and Customer Service to resolve fulfilment issues and improve the customer experience.
• Managing operational budgets, staffing requirements, facilities and equipment needs.
• Driving safe work practices, risk management and follow through on incidents and corrective actions.
• Using operational data to identify issues, report results and deliver practical improvements across systems and processes.

What you’ll bring

• Proven experience leading operations across multiple sites, ideally in warehousing, distribution, wholesale or a similar environment.
• A strong track record of leading managers, coaching teams and improving operational performance.
• Sound knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory management, freight and workplace safety.
• Commercial judgement, with experience managing budgets, reviewing costs and using performance data to make decisions.
• The ability to introduce consistent processes while responding to the practical needs of individual branches.
• Clear communication, strong problem solving skills and a collaborative approach to working with other teams.
• Confidence using ERP and warehouse management systems.
• The ability to travel nationally to support branch teams.
• Relevant qualifications in logistics, supply chain or business are desirable.
