About the Role

This is an exciting senior executive opportunity to lead the operational and strategic direction of the ABC's National Networks Operations. If you're a senior broadcast operations or media leader ready to take charge of the networks that bring ABC content to audiences nationwide, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Leading the ABC's National Networks Operations, including the operational and technical systems management of its transmission, presentation, Master Control and broadcast playout infrastructure.
  • Spearheading major initiatives and specialist projects, including the audio delegation, disaster recovery and scheduling system projects, while managing the department's contribution to disaster recovery planning and major events.
  • Heading up the development and implementation of systems and procedures that ensure service and network continuity, along with monitoring and reporting tools and KPIs for internal network and key systems performance.
  • Representing the Department and leading engagement with key stakeholders, from government, community and the commercial sector to international media peers.
  • Overseeing the Department's facilities and budgets, contributing to capital and strategic planning as required and leading its compliance with regulatory, legislative, corporate and governance reporting requirements.
  • Providing significant leadership and direction to develop staff effectively and build a shared understanding of and commitment to Department and Division goals, while driving change management and the introduction of new broadcast technologies, systems and workflows.
  • Actively participating in the Content Management and Distribution executive team by contributing to strategy and change processes, while identifying and developing opportunities that will benefit the ABC.
About You

  • A proven track record at senior management level in broadcast operations and/or media leadership.
  • Demonstrated high-level leadership, communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to inspire a diverse group of people in a demanding, high-profile environment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of satellite, telecommunications and/or broadcast transmission technology and systems planning.
  • Highly developed business/strategic planning and management capabilities, together with advanced analytical, planning and organisation skills.
  • Strong personal drive and commitment, as you've shown in a changing media environment.
