Job summary

Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) seeks a senior executive to lead the National Networks Operations, directing transmission, distribution, Master Control and playout infrastructure across the network.

You will drive transformational broadcast technology initiatives, ensure service continuity and performance, and engage with government, industry and international media peers.

This role reports to Head, Content Management and Distribution and sits within Product & Technology.

Qualifications

• Senior leadership experience in broadcast operations.
• Proven ability to lead across national networks and complex systems.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Strategic planning and governance experience.
• Knowledge of satellite and broadcast transmission technologies.

Responsibilities

• Lead the ABC's National Networks Operations, including operational and technical systems management of transmission, presentation, Master Control and broadcast playout infrastructure.
• Spearhead major initiatives and specialist projects, including disaster recovery and scheduling system projects, while aligning with disaster recovery planning and major events.
• Develop and implement systems and procedures to ensure service and network continuity, with monitoring and KPIs for key systems performance.
• Represent the department and engage with stakeholders from government, community and the commercial sector to international media peers.
• Oversee facilities and budgets, contribute to capital and strategic planning and ensure governance reporting compliance.
• Provide leadership to develop staff and drive change management and adoption of new broadcast technologies and workflows.
• Participate in Content Management and Distribution executive strategy and identify opportunities benefiting the ABC.
