Job summary

St Andrew's Anglican College Swim Club in Peregian Beach, QLD, seeks an experienced National Development Coach to lead State Squad training, design progressions and coordinate competition planning under the Head Coach.

You will attend meets, manage squad administration, and assist with pool operations while maintaining a strong focus on child safety with Blue Card and lifeguard qualifications.

Qualifications

• Proven experience coaching National, age-group or open squads.
• Knowledge of program design balancing skills, technique, physiology and long-term athlete development.
• Familiarity with Meet Manager and Swim Central; club development and meet operations.
• Flexible hours including early mornings, evenings and weekends.
• Commitment to safety and wellbeing of children and young people.
• Current Blue Card under the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act.
• SCTA Advanced Coach accreditation; SCTA membership.
• First Aid and Pool Lifeguard qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver day-to-day State Squad training sessions under the guidance of the Head Coach, developing training progressions and a seasonal competition plan.
• Attend College and Club swim meets and represent the program at weekend Swimming Carnivals, and provide squad administration and communication.
• Support broader Swim Club operations, including registrar and secretary duties, pool operations, equipment maintenance and timing system operation.

About Us:

The St Andrew's Anglican College Swim Club is the competitive heart of our Aquatic Centre, giving swimmers a genuine pathway from grassroots participation through to State and National representation. Affiliated with the College and run in close partnership with our squad programs, the Club runs a full calendar of Club Nights, meets and carnivals, and has built a proud record of developing successful junior and age-group swimmers.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated National Development Coach to join our Swim Coach team. Reporting to the Head Coach, you will take day-to-day responsibility for the delivery of our State squads, designing and delivering a program that prepares swimmers for Regional, State and National competition.

About the Role:

In this role, you will plan and deliver day-to-day State Squad training sessions under the guidance of the Head Coach, developing training progressions and a seasonal competition plan aligned with the College's teaching and learning standards. You will attend College and Club swim meets and represent the program at weekend Swimming Carnivals as required, and provide squad administration and communication while supporting broader Swim Club operations, including acting as registrar and secretary. The role also involves assisting with pool operations, equipment maintenance and timing system operation at hosted competitions.

What You Bring:

• Proven experience coaching National, age or open squads/swimmers, with a track record of developing successful junior and age-group athletes.
• Sound knowledge of program design balancing skills, technique, physiology and long-term athlete development.
• Familiarity with Meet Manager and Swim Central, and experience in club development and meet operations.
• A collaborative, professional and courteous approach, with the flexibility to work variable hours including early mornings, evenings and weekends.
• A genuine commitment to the safety and wellbeing of children and young people.
• Current, valid Blue Card as required under the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act.
Minimum SCTA (Swim Coaches and Teachers Association) Advanced Coach accreditation, with current SCTA membership.Current First Aid (including CPR) and Pool Lifeguard qualifications.A current, valid Blue Card under the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000.Intermediate proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
