Job summary

Sacred Heart Mission in Melbourne is seeking a practical General Maintenance Officer to keep our buildings safe, functional and welcoming across multiple sites. This hands-on role covers repairs, preventative maintenance and site readiness to support residents, clients and staff.

You'll travel between sites, coordinate with contractors and our Property & Procurement team, and ensure repairs are completed to a high standard while maintaining safety and logbooks in our maintenance system.

Qualifications

• Experience in a general maintenance, handyperson or facilities role.
• Ability to work independently across multiple sites.
• Commitment to safety and quality workmanship.

Responsibilities

• Complete general repairs and maintenance across SHM sites (carpentry, patching, painting, hardware).
• Respond to maintenance requests and prioritise urgent site needs.
• Carry out preventative maintenance and routine site inspections.
• Complete room turnarounds between residents and checks for readiness.
• Keep maintenance records and contractor observations up to date in SHM’s system.
