Job summary

Southern Cross Care NSW & ACT is seeking a reliable Maintenance Officer to support Retirement Living Units across Marrickville, Thirroul, Kirrawee, Caringbah and Maroubra. This full-time role covers electrical, plumbing, carpentry and gardening tasks to keep residents safe and comfortable.

You will work with site teams, Village Managers and contractors to ensure preventative and reactive maintenance is carried out to a high standard in a supportive, not-for-profit aged care environment.

Qualifications

• Good all-round handyman skills.
• Experience with basic electrical, plumbing and carpentry repairs.
• Gardening maintenance knowledge for gardens and lawns.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic maintenance repairs (electrical, plumbing, carpentry) across locations.
• Carry out gardening maintenance tasks (mowing, sweeping, cleaning, hedging).
• Oversee preventative maintenance as per calendar for each location.
• Support reactive maintenance as directed across the area of responsibility.
• Ensure works meet safety and regulatory requirements.
• Contribute to Work Health and Safety policies and procedures.

The Role

Maintenance Officer- Full Time- 76 hours per fortnight- Company car provided

We are seeking a reliable and hands-onMaintenance Officerto workfull time in our Retirement Living Units across several Southern Cross Care facilities, including Marrickville, Thirroul, Kirrawee, Caringbah and Maroubra.

The role will work closely with site teams, Village Managers, Property and contractors to ensure maintenance is completed safely, efficiently and to an appropriate standard, supporting a safe and well-maintained environment for residents, staff and visitors. Good all round handyman skills are required as well as good general gardening knowledge to maintain the gardens and lawns.

The successful candidate will ensure that all tasks are undertaken to support service delivery outcomes including the maintenance of the property and land-based assets, plant and equipment.

• You will be responsible in providingbasicgeneral maintenance repairs (electrical &plumbing, carpentry and building)
• You will alsobe providinggardening maintenance tasks (sweeping, hosing, keeping the outside of buildings clean and tidy, mowing lawns, hedging and general garden maintenance)
• Undertake and oversee Preventative Maintenance relating to buildings, property and assets in accordance with the Planned Preventative Maintenance Calendar specific to each location.
• Undertake and oversee Reactive Maintenance relating to buildings, property and assets as directed across the designated area of responsibility
• Monitor and action all Maintenance works to ensure regulatory compliance across the designated area of responsibility.
• To Comply with and contribute to Work Health and Safety policies and procedures.
